Weidner Apartment Homes Plans 212-Unit Development and Historic Jailhouse Restoration in Downtown Wenatchee

Weidner Apartment Homes announced plans to invest in downtown Wenatchee, Washington, through new residential development and the restoration of a historic building.

The company is developing The Majestic Apartments, a 7-story, 212-unit residential community designed with Milbrandt Architects. According to the release, the project takes inspiration from downtown Wenatchee’s architecture and will feature a brick exterior, arched entries, and Art Deco design elements. The development will include 100 public parking stalls within an underground garage. The Majestic is expected to be completed in summer 2027.

The new project will add to the 1,626 residential units Weidner has developed in Moses Lake, Leavenworth, and Wenatchee, according to the company.

Weidner announced it is restoring the former Wenatchee Jailhouse, a 2,736-square-foot building constructed in 1910 that previously served as the city’s jail. The structure has been vacant for decades. The company partnered with Graham Baba Architects to adapt the historic building for food and beverage use. Dime Food Group will operate two commercial spaces in the building, planned as a Spanish-style deli and a speakeasy. The restoration is expected to be completed in summer 2027.

Beyond real estate development, Weidner donated $7,500,000 to the Wenatchee Valley Museum and Cultural Center to support its renovation. In December 2025, the company’s late founder and chairman, W. Dean Weidner, purchased the historic Wenatchee Valley YMCA’s Lake Wenatchee Camp and entered into a 99-year, low-cost lease agreement with the YMCA. Weidner contributed $2,000,000 as an endowed gift to support the camp.

“Weidner has an 18-year history of developing housing within the Wenatchee Valley, and our experience has been overwhelmingly positive,” said Nick Nowotarski, Development Director at Weidner Apartment Homes. “We share the city’s goal to encourage economic development within the downtown core while preserving Wenatchee’s strong sense of community and character. Weidner is excited to be part of that growth.”
